Junior system-administrator

Bitonic is looking for a junior system-administrator who will support our team on their devices and (internal) systems and coach them on safe use of their workstation.

Bitonic was the first company that offered (automated) purchasing of Bitcoins via iDEAL. During the years, we have expanded our services with our own Bitcoin-exchange BL3P, a savings-service Bits and an educative and informative platform Bitcoin.nl.

The IT-infrastructure at Bitonic

Since Bitonic is built on IT, we have developed the firm belief and principles of keeping as much control over our own systems as possible. We are continually building our own platform(s) to run our services and systems on to keep sensitive data completely in our own control. We try to use open-source software wherever possible.

About the role

You will be the point of contact for colleagues when they experience problems with their workstations, when they need hardware or if they have questions about systems or other technical stuff. You ensure that everyone is able to do their work properly and help them out when needed. In this role you can develop yourself more into Sysops and Devops to support your team.

Your profile

• You know how to work with Ubuntu and MacOS, including the command-line
• You have affinity and preferably some experience with coding
• You like to help colleagues to fix problems with their workstations
• You are able to self-manage and thrive in an environment with high degree of freedom
• You are eager to learn new (tech) skills and to develop yourself into a broader role
• We expect you to work at least one day per week at our office in Amsterdam
• Having your driver’s license is a bonus

Your responsibilities

• You purchase and install workstations for (new) colleagues
• You help colleagues with problems on their workstations
• You will advise and inform colleagues on security best-practices and check whether colleagues apply this
• You make sure that the workstations of colleagues leaving are properly offboarded
• Advise the team on structural problems that you encounter and propose solutions to reduce this;
• Bonus points if you create a creative ‘punishment’ for colleagues that do not lock their screen.

What we offer you

• Salary between € 2.600 and € 3.000 on fulltime basis based on your experience and knowledge
• A 13th month and study or development possibilities
• 32 holiday days, including national holidays based on fulltime basis
• Travel expenses compensation of € 0,21 per km or NS-businesscard
• Possibility for remote-working and flexible working hours
• A one time budget of € 600 for an ergonomic home work-setup
• Compensation of max € 50 per month for sports subscription
• A homely office in the centre of Amsterdam with daily lunch included
• Monthly Pizza Fridays, (sport) activities and other social events.

The hiring proces

After we have received your application, we will review your profile with the team. The hiring process furthermore consists of a first interview, that is mainly in-depth on the tasks/responsibilities and knowledge. After this, a second interview will be scheduled for the culture fit.
