Why was my bitcoin address denied?

At Bitonic, transactions are only allowed to and from your own wallet. This can either be a personal wallet (self-custodial) or a hosted wallet with an exchange (custodial).

As a result, some bitcoin addresses cannot be used for withdrawals. An address may, for example, be denied if it appears to be linked to:

  • unregulated gambling platforms (such as Polymarket);
  • darknet markets or other illegal marketplaces;
  • fraud, scams, ransomware, or other criminal activities;
  • wallets belonging to friends, family members, or other third parties;
  • intermediaries or so-called “money mules”;
  • anonymous or non-verifiable external parties;
  • webshops or merchants where goods or services are paid for directly from your Bitonic account;
  • mixers, tumblers, or other services that anonymise transactions;
  • sanctioned persons, entities, or wallet addresses; or
  • platforms or services that violate applicable laws and regulations.

Not sure whether a wallet can be used, or do you have questions about a denied address? Feel free to contact our customer support.
