What is a proof of income or source of funds?

In some cases, we may ask for proof of income and/or the source of funds. We do this because, according to the Dutch Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft), we are required to investigate the origin of the funds used to purchase bitcoin (BTC) at Bitonic. Examples of accepted documents include:

Funds from salary or savings:

  • One or more pay slips (max. 6 months old).
  • Annual income statement (max. 12 months old).
  • Submitted tax return or tax assessment (max. 12 months old).
  • Bank statement from your savings account and an explanation of how you accumulated your savings (as recent as possible).

Funds from your business:

  • Annual financial statement (including profit and loss statement, max. 12 months old) and Chamber of Commerce extract (max. 3 months old) for your business.
  • One or more invoices (max. 6 months old).

Funds from real estate or other assets:

  • Bill of settlement and bank statement showing the incoming payment from the notary.

Funds from inheritance or gifts:

  • Inheritance declaration or inheritance tax return and bank statement showing the deposit of the inheritance share.
  • Gift agreement or letter from the donor, including an explanation of the nature of the gift and bank statement showing the deposit of the gift.

If you can provide proof of your funds with other documents, that is also possible. Additionally, you may obscure irrelevant financial personal information. Documents can be securely uploaded through your account environment. Please ensure that the documents you provide are always proportional to your trading volume and purchases.
