Warning: Phishing email in circulation

On 18 July, a phishing email was circulated pretending to be from Bitonic. The email falsely claims that our User Agreement has been updated and that you must accept it within 7 days to continue using your account. This email was not sent by Bitonic. Do not click any links in the email or provide any personal information.

How to recognise phishing emails

Phishing emails are designed to trick you into clicking a link or sharing personal information. Always check the sender's email address and where a link leads before clicking it. You can do this by hovering your mouse over the link without clicking it. If the website is not the official Bitonic website, it is very likely to be a phishing attempt.

This phishing email also contains several signs that it is not genuine. For example, it claims that you must accept the User Agreement within 7 days. It also states that you can schedule a meeting with our "compliance team" if you have any questions. Bitonic does not offer such appointments.

What should you do?

  • Do not click links in suspicious emails.
  • Do not open attachments or download any files or applications requested in the message.
  • If you receive a suspicious email claiming to be from Bitonic, please forward it to fraude@bitonic.nl.
  • If you receive a suspicious SMS, please take a screenshot and send it to fraude@bitonic.nl.
  • If you are unsure whether a message is genuinely from Bitonic, please contact us on +31 (0)20 226 5289 or email fraude@bitonic.nl.

Extra protection

You can better protect your account by setting up an anti-phishing phrase. This personal phrase is included in emails sent by Bitonic, making it easier to verify that a message is genuinely from us. Read in our FAQ how to set up an anti-phishing phrase.
